Introduction to Weaving on a Floor Loom with Michelle Batho

Join Newburgh-based artist Michelle Batho in her Introduction to Weaving workshop, where participants will learn basic plain weave and twill patterns on a floor loom.

Dressing the loom and beginning to weave will take place on day one. On day two, we will cover tapestry techniques and various weft combinations to weave through samples that will be completed by the end of the day. Alternative fiber yarns are available to highlight play between structure, material, and color as weavers rotate through pattern and technique combinations.

River Valley Arts Collective is offering this workshop for free to Hudson Valley artists. All materials and tools will be provided, and lunch will be served. To register, please contact info@RVACollective.org. Space is limited–we will create a waiting list when the workshop is fully enrolled.
